Product information "Thar desert salt | 0.1-5mm |"
The Thar Desert stretches along the Indo-Pakistani border from the Arabian Sea to the Punjab Mountains. Once this region was completely covered by oceans. As a remnant of a bygone era, natural salt deposits rich in minerals can be found in the region. In addition, briny water veins run underneath the Thar Desert, which are fed directly by the Arabian Sea. In some places, the brine-containing water rises to the surface and forms saline lakes. During the dry and sunny summer months with temperatures up to 50 degrees, most of these brine-containing lakes evaporate and leave naturally crystallized salt deposits. Only a few nomadic cattle breeders live in this barren and industrial-free large region. Accordingly, the salt extracted here is untouched by impurities of our civilization. The carefully mined salt is only sifted out and packed in a modern salt works, the complete mineral diversity is completely preserved. The cream-grey natural salt has a strong, slightly tart salt taste. As a universal kitchen salt it is suitable for seasoning all kinds of food and dishes.
